Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a heavy platinum-covered book on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Uther' scribed in dull yellow ink.

Author: Uther
Date: Sun Sep 20 21:15:25 2009
Subject Son of a Knight

Uther's father, Yugar, was never at home. When he was younger his
mother,
Kalinia, would tell him that he was a merchant that always
traveled and
never stopped. The boy thought that he would never see him again,
but all
that changed when Yugar came home on his sons 16th birthday. His
father
didn't dress like a merchant; he dressed as if he was a knight.
This
surprised Uther very much.

"Father, why do you dress like a knight?" Uther asked.

Yugar glared at Kalinia, and then turned back to Uther. "I am not
what your
mother said I was, nor do I want to know what she told you, but
it's time
for me to tell you your destiny, son. I also want to tell you
that I
apologize for not being there when you were young. Hopefully what
I tell you
on the monumental day will give you understanding of why I
couldn't be here
with you and your mother." Yulgar gestured for Uther to sit, and
he did.

"So I will come out and say it, I am a knight, but not just any
knight, a
knight of Solamnia." Uther's eyes widened. He had heard of these
knights and
the good that they do for people. "I can tell by your expression
that you
have heard of the Solamnic knights? Well, what you might not know
is that I
told your mother on the night of your birth, that once you were
of age, you
would join me, along with the many other brave knights, in
Solamnia, to help
defend against the evils of the world."

Uther had no response to this. He sat there thinking and
thinking. "Would I
still be able to see mother?"

"Yes you would, and you would make the family proud. You know
that if you
look at our family history, every male child has been in a
Solamnic knight
since The Age of Dreams. You could be-are going to be the next
one in the
family being the only male left in our family."

Uther pondered some more and said, "Okay I'll do it. I will train
to become
the next knight of Solamnia, like father, and his father's before
him."

"Excellent, everyone will be so pleased! So go get your things
packed and
ready to go. We leave in one hour," said Yulgar proudly. Uther
ran to his
room threw what he needed into a bag, then kissed his mother bye,
and left
with Yulgar to become a Solamnic Knight.
