The Great Library of Palanthas

An Aesthetic shows you to a small reading room.

Stories of Ansalon from the view of Duerauk.

A little gully dwarf runs by and says 'Wordwrap is at 65. You change? Off 65 80.'
The gully continues 'Eyes hurt? Turn Color OFF!! (regular story dates)

Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a massive tome lined with fake jewels on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Duerauk' scribed in faded purple ink.

Author: Duerauk

Subject a hylar

Deep beneath the lush forests, and rangelands of the foothills,
they
dwelled. For hundreds of years the dwelled under the ground,
again at
home with the earth. And true they still were hill dwarves,
never
would they be considered a mountain dwarf, they shunned living
upon
the surface. Going only to trade, to hunt, to forage and to
farm.

This small clan had very close ties to other hill dwarf
communities.
So there was much coming and going between the two. This small
clan
had some of the best smitheries known, for they could reach a
heat
that could boil water from 20 feet away. And though I wished that
my
family were some of skilled metal workers, we were not. Though
some
would say our importance was of equal value, for you see we were
the
stokers. We feed the fires that drive our economy, and we mine
the
fuel from the earth for the fires.

I had always struggled with being considered a second rate
citizen by
some, it could have been an ego problem or just an inferoirty
complex
I do not care either way, for it shaped me into what I am today.
One
who does what is needed to survive and further his goals and the
goals
of those who can aid him the most. I learned at an early age
that it
was easy to use the mind to do work instead of the body. To
trick and
swindle people then it was to over power them. And when the mind
failed, to come at them when they were unawares, for it saved
effort
and it saved time. And true sometimes this way of life lead to
trouble, and many lashes by the authorities and my parents.

May the Queen payable upon them, torment beyond that which was
done
onto me. Early in my life it had become apparent, that if I
stayed
where I was, I would wind up hanging from a rope or chained by
the
fires to melt away. And really, I deserve a better death then
that, I
deserve to die surrounded my many beautiful slaves, attending to
my
every whim. So obvisouly I had to leave, so I roamed from town
to
town, never staying in one place, never settling down. I drifted
around pilfering and murdered to feed myself, and bring myself
closer
to my goals.

I gave unto my queen, by the burning of several fields of
solamnic
lands, and though it was quite fun, it is not somethnig to be
recanted
in the open for all to hear.
