The Great Library of Palanthas

An Aesthetic shows you to a small reading room.

Stories of Ansalon from the view of Erthos.

A little gully dwarf runs by and says 'Wordwrap is at 65. You change? Off 65 80.'
The gully continues 'Eyes hurt? Turn Color OFF!! (regular story dates)

Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a well written novel on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Erthos' scribed in dull brown ink.

SubjectGuardian of the Woodland

My story is one that would reflect many of my people. I have
been quite
blessed in life, I feel even more so now that I have seen what
the world of
men holds.

I do not come from a family of great importance. My father, like
myself, was
given the task of defending our woods from outsiders, those who
sought to
profit from the gifts of nature.

My mother is a simple homemaker, she attended court with many of
her kind and
is quite good at the elvish art of woodcraft.

I was not alone in my householld. I have both a brother and
sister, whom I
both hold dear to me. My brother is very young... for my people,
and my
sister near to my age

As with my race my childhood was long and to the most part
uneventful. I was
trained in the art of combat in order to aid my father in
protecting our
homeland. I grew to be an excellent marksman, which I pride
myself on.

From my mother I have learned much about how the Silvanesti
people can shape
the forest so that our homes grow unhendered out of the forest.

However, the one thing that I have gained from both my parents
more than any
other is their strong devotion to Quinesti Pah. I was raised to
nuture peace.

I saw the pain in my father's eyes when he had to put his skills
to the test.
During the last war, he along with many of his friends went to
battle agaisnt
the armies of the dark queen.

He was not killed... but he was gravely wounded by an arrow
through his chest.
He is no longer able to protect our woods, so I have taken his
place and for
many years I have led his men in her defense.

Now with this peace that we have been so blessed to have our
numbers have
grown, however slightly, but have non the less grown and our
defenses are not
strained for men.

That is why I have answered the speaker of the stars call to aid
the world of
men in this time of darkness. As the dark queen's armies grow
strong and
threaten our woods our spirits fade.

But as long as we have allies as we did in the war of the lance
we shall not
lose our freedom to her masses.

I come before you now to honor that bond between our people that
barely
exists. I wish to keep this time of peace for my children and
theirs, and so
I serve Quinesti Pah and the people of Silvanost.
