Subject A shift in motivation

Life is not as it use to be..

Ever since I fought and killed that damned Black Robe Camus something has
been tugging at my soul. I feel as if that fight changed me in ways that I
cannot begin to explain. Although at the time I was almost certain that I
was free of maladictions, I'm beginning to wonder more and more if that
black robe did indeed cast a hex on me. My views on Kenderdom are changing,
I've fought too many battles under this flag in the name of Kenderdom, and
I'm growing impatient with the ignorance and pre-determined despise that the
world holds in mind toward my race. I'm no longer curious about everything
I see, that ended long ago. Several weeks ago I was approached by a dark
cleric of chemosh who offered me a reward to hunt down a certain individual.
I don't usually take bounties from such sinister men, but I did in this case
because I wanted something more. The target was a dwarf that was late on a
payment of sorts, who knows what kind of payment. ALl I knew was that I had
to go and either collect it, or take this dwarf off the payment roster. So
I tracked him down in the city of New thalos at a tavern using the
information given to me by the cleric. I sat in the back of this dwarfs
tavern for the better part of the night until most of the drunkards had left
and it was only me, another kender and the dwarf remaining. I did not
hesitate, with a dash I lunged accross the floor toward the dwarf but I was
met by an unexpected advisary, the other Kender jumped out just as I reached
the dwarf, daggers in hand, ready to fight me off. So in a rage, I directed
my strike on this poor kender, he was smaller than most and quickly fell to
my combat experiance. That was when it hit me, what in the hell had I done.
The dwarf just sat there dazed looking at me, but did not bother to run as
he though the kender was the one I was after. My head felt like it was
burning and the only thing that would stop the burning was to just be alone,
So with a quick flick of my wrist, I pulled out my blowgun and dipped a dart
in the glob of venom on my bracer. The dart dealt its fury quickly as the
dwarfs face became contorted and the veins in his neck grew black with the
burning of the venom. I left the bar and returned to the cleric in another
tavern near Mid'n'eer, where I collected the bounty. The cleric grinned at
me and said, "You're very good at what you do, I can see that the dwarf
could not pay up, nice work, I will be contacting you with another contract
soon." At that point I froze, I had not given the dwarf the opportunity to
pay up. I had killed in cold blood for nothing more than the sake of a
paycheck. This was the beginning of something I had always feared. Yet
there was another feeling inside me looking at that bag of gold on the
table, an exhileration I had not felt in years pumped through my veins. And
although I knew what I had done was a horrible thing to do, I wanted another
job so I could do it again. The site of the blood on my hands further
elevated this rush. And as I looked around the room I could tell that I was
no longer accepted by the Kender here, they knew the business that the
cleric dealt and seeing the blood on my hands proved to them that I was
weak. As for me, ever since that fight with the mage, something is
changing. My motivations are no longer that of my kin.. But my own.
