Subject Dealings in a Dark Alley

It was a dark and dreary night the kind that you would only see in the presence of a new moon, a smaller than normal goblin was roaming the streets. Cats hissed and dogs barked as the little goblin walked down the dimly lit streets of Palanthas. The goblin turned down a back alley only to be greeted by a much larger human holding a torch. The goblin stepped into the light revealing that he was extremely well dressed for a goblin, in fact he was better dressed than most in the city of Palanthas. He donned a purple pinstripe suit, a cane with a garnet on top, and to top it off he had a top hat to match. 'Did you bring what I asked for?' asked the human. ''Did I bring what you asked for?'' the goblin mocked the human. 'Have I ever disappointed you and not delivered, Dibral?' Dibral raised an eyebrow, 'So we are on a first name basis now, Iggik? And no you have always delivered what was asked.' 'Exactly! Now where did I put the shiny?' Iggik began feeling around in his pockets, patting himself down. 'Hmmm... seems like I may have misplaced the shiny, ' giggled Iggik as he got down on all fours and crawling on the ground like an animal. He began shuffling behind crates and barrels, when suddenly Iggik's hand flies into the air from behind a barrel. 'Look I found the shiny!' Dibral was not at all amused with the goblins antics, 'It's always something with you. Things never go smoothly.' 'At least I get the job done. Now down to business. This here, ' Iggik holds out a vial of powder, 'is a nonlethal powder. Just a pinch of this in someones food or drink and they will be counting sheep within seconds.' 'Great that's exactly what I needed. Thanks so much, Iggik, ' Dibral pulls out a small bag of gold coins and tosses it up and down as if to feel the weight of the coins. He tosses it over to Iggik. 'Nice doing business with ya, now we drink, ' Iggik pulls some cups and a bottle from his pack and begins to pour themselves drinks. 'Can't settle the deal without a drink with my old buddy Dibral, now can I?' he asked handing a cup over to Dibral. Dibral reaches over and grabs the cup and drinks from it. 'Now I really must get going. I have to get back home to my wife. She is waiting for me.' 'Love is a fickle thing isn't it? I mean I wouldn't know myself for I have never been in a relationship. I believe no one can be trusted, not even a significant other, ' Iggik looked over at Dibral who didn't look like he was feeling too good. 'What is happening? I don't feel go-' Dibral passed out and slammed into the ground. Iggik peered over Dibral's motionless body, 'Like I said no one can be trusted, ' he giggled as he searched Dibral for anything of value. 'Sorry old friend. It's just business.' Just then a woman came walking up the path, 'Is it done?' the woman asked. Iggik looked up at the woman but only for a second and then went back to searching Dibral, 'Yes. He is out cold and won't wake up for at least 10 hours, and by then you will be long gone.' 'My husband never understood me. I've always wanted to get out and see the world and he just wanted to settle here in Palanthas. I'm tired of this life here. Now I can start anew.' the woman was weeping tears of happiness. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a pouch of coins and threw it towards Iggik, who immediately snatched it up. 'Don't say I never did nothing for ya, ' Iggik stood up and shook hands with the woman. 'Our business here is done and I shall be on my way.' 'Thank you, Iggik.' 'I did it all for the money not for you, ' he said walking away into the dimly lit streets of Palanthas.
