The Great Library of Palanthas
An Aesthetic shows you to a small reading room.
Stories of Ansalon from the view of Imaeris.
A little gully dwarf runs by and says 'Wordwrap is at 65. You change? Off 65 80.'
The gully continues 'Eyes hurt? Turn Color OFF!! (regular story dates)
Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a giant book on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Imaeris' scribed in unearthly maroon ink.
Author: Imaeris Date: Sat Aug 21 06:21:40 2010 Subject Through Fire and Flames Embers waltz, bow and exit. Unnatural flames consume wood and stone alike. Grey and black plumes choke the room. Debris slide off a prone figure cloaked in ash. Scent of burnt cloth and flesh lingers in the air, swallowed by smoke. A coughing fit emerges from the figure. Slowly she lifts herself up. Her back is bare. Charred flesh pulses and glows like fresh coals. Every pulse wracks the wounded body with throbbing pain. The arms weren't left unscathed. Blood drips from some wound on her face, trickles down expressionless features, collects and separates from the chin and drops silently into the small red puddle on the floor. Alchemical equipment lay strewn amid the burning wreckage. Pieces of calcinators, alembics and retorts are everywhere, some still containing and processing ingredients. Everything else burned-no papers, scrolls, books, not even a quill. Intense light reflect hot colors in dark pupils, imprinting a crimson shade upon them. These pupils hide once, twice, then scan the room only to follow the smoke as it swirls and dances upward. It twists and spirals past the crumbling rafters into a black sphere in the sky. Color can't define the form because it is the absence of all. Still, the dark shape is reflected in them. And she smiles.
