light

Born into a noble family in the elven city of
Silvanost, Korlia wanted
for nothing as a child, other than
friends. Showing remarkable promise in
magic at a young age, she
was kept secluded and tutored extensively in the
arcane arts,
giving up any semblence of a normal childhood in return
for
advanced knowledge. By the age of 50, Korlia had proven
herself more
advanced then others her own age, and even than
those older than her.
However, she grew distant, aloof, and
cold-hearted, rebuffing even the
friendliest of advances,
desiring only to learn more. Her parents, once
proud of her, grew
to be worried as her antisocial behavior continued to
worsen. Her
tutors and masters noticed as well, but cared little, for
having
such a magical prodigy raised their status and their
pride. For twenty-five
years, Korlia grew more and more distant,
but stronger and stronger. Her
parents feared that no one would
ever thaw the icy shell around her heart,
they feared that she
would consume herself in her thirst for knowledge. To
combat that
fear, they threw young elven men at her, trying to find one
whom
she would show interest in. Little did they know, their
efforts pushed
korlia further and further away from their
society. Korlia grew disgusted
with her parents and their
obsession with appearances. All she really cared
about was magic
and knowledge. Whether she married or not, whether she
had
children or not, did not matter to her. She had her whole
life ahead of her
for that, for now, she wanted to focus only on
learning as much as she
could. Her parent's couldn't, or wouldn't
understand that, and continued
their pushing, til one day Korlia
decided that she could take no more. Late
one night, she gathered
her things, bid farewell to her birthplace, and
magically
transported herself to the city of solace. Her new
life
awaited...

For 25 years, Korlia lived in the outskirts of
solace, practicing her magic
and researching all she could. Once
a week, she made a trip to the library
of palanthas to check out
a variety of books. After awhile, her research,
and desire for
knowledge, led her to a temple of Lunitari. Talking to a
priest
within, she came to realize that the way of Solinari was not for
her.
Her thirst for knowledge could, and already had, come
between her and
Solinari's precepts. Such times had led to a loss
of power, a feeling of
abandonment. And so, praying that Solinari
would forgive her, Korlia severed
all ties to Solinari, praying
instead to Lunitari, and begging the goddess
to take korlia into
her fold. Hence began the story of Korlia
Cor-Dryadalis,
silvanesti magus of the moons.
