The Great Library of Palanthas

An Aesthetic shows you to a small reading room.

Stories of Ansalon from the view of Mellande.

A little gully dwarf runs by and says 'Wordwrap is at 65. You change? Off 65 80.'
The gully continues 'Eyes hurt? Turn Color OFF!! (regular story dates)

Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a giant book on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Mellande' scribed in burnt orange ink.

Author: Mellande
Date: Mon May 7 23:06:01 2007
Subject Following the Flame-Part 1

Her eyes remain closed as she wakes and stretches. There is no
need to spend
minutes recalling the dream, its details always the same but she
lay in total
silence spending several trying to interpret its meaning. In a
soft, low voice
a single word is spoken and a candle begins to burn. Opening her
lavender eyes
she stares into the candle's flame without focus.

Seeing not the flame, but conjuring the image of the figure of
fire that visits
her dreams nightly she speaks aloud, "I only wish I could
understand what you
are trying to tell me, but if it is the Firemaster's will for me
to understand
then I will."

Each day ends bringing her to a crossroad, standing unsure of the
route ahead
she sees a figure of fire between the two paths speaking but no
sound escapes
it. Mellande desperately tries to ask the figure to show her why
it called her
here, but her voice is also muted. Feeling an urgency her hands
begin to sweat
as she looks around for a sign, anything that could point her in
the right
direction. Nothing is obvious to her and she pauses with a
prayer to Sirrion.
Suddenly she feels her feet being guided towards the being and
walks quickly
towards it. Reaching the form she wakes in turmoil and wonder.
Always starting
each day feeling the urgency and the question remains with her,
what is she to
do?

Snapping out of the thought she again says a lengthy prayer to
her god, and
begins to start her day in hopes of an answer.
