Author: Mennik Date Mon Jul 3 21:34:45 2006 Subject Influence Mennik Silvertoe never shared a formal introduction with Emla Thumbfingers.. it was more of a gradual acclimation to her presence. In fact, he can't even recall the first time he saw her, most likely because he tended to ignore others of his race. Mennik's dark clothes and short hair (lacking a top-knot) were examples of his disdain for the stereotypes of his race and his efforts to not be known as one of them. Naturally, he didn't think much of the female kender during the many times when she would show up just to chat with him or show him some of her new treasures. Mennik had other things on his mind, mostly involving his habit of mapping the places he explored. He worked especially hard on the map of his birthplace, Solace. So, when Emla offered one day to take him for a tour of the forest city, he couldn't help but chuckle. Nevertheless, out of curiosity (which was the one kender trait that he could never seem to shake), he accepted her offer and wondered if she could show him anything that he didn't already know about the city. Mennik followed Emla as she began to expertly maneuver through the city, showing a similar knowledge of Solace's locations. Unlike Mennik, who kept to himself during his travels, Emla had a habit of chatting with and messing around with the various city people. She also showed him places he hadn't seen before, hidden simply behind unimportant looking scenery. Near the end of their time hanging around Solace, Emla gave Mennik a strange coin that she had found earlier. Mennik normally would be opposed to keeping something non-useful, but for the first time in his life, he didn't even care that the coin was not a recognized form of currency. As he spent more and more time around Emla, his countenance towards others of his race changed, and he began to allow himself to have a little bit more fun. He came to understand the kender lifestyle, and even started to enjoy being mischievous once in a while. Over the years, Mennik and Emla spent countless more hours together exploring places, finding shiny objects, and just being mischievous in general. Wanting to be closer to Emla, Mennik eventually began to leave his neutrality behind and follow good. Emla told him about Branchala, the god of the kender, and he now seeks to fully abandon his neutrality in favor of the light.
