Subject Quinnis, the Seafarer

It was the lure of power that called him to the open seas. Born in the shallows surrounding Dimernost, Quinnis was always an outcast. It wasnt his fault, per se, his mother was known to have severe mental illness. She was plagued by visions and voices known to no one else. Her movements were erratic and unnatural. Quinnis was forced to mature and take care of himself and his mother from an early age. Naturally, when honest work would leave the family wanting, he would have to resort to begging, as thievery had never crossed his mind. His mother passed when he was still very young, only 75. It was obvious by looking at him, the hard life had taken its toll. He found himself wandering along the coast of Ansalon, destitute but determined never to beg again. Walking among the tidepools foraging for food, he came across a small floating necklace. Not accustomed to wearing jewelry, he nearly passed it by until he felt a sort of tugging. Something about the necklace called to him, and despite his reservations he picked it up. A swelling filled his entire being, like a tsunami rushing in to fill the gaps in his soul. He trembled visibly and his gaze was immediately pulled to the sea. The last thing he remembered before he passed out was a voice like a thousand breakers against jagged rocks crashing in his mind, Tempest..
