Subject Origins

Living on a small farm with his mother and father. Shraker, a young boy of 5, lead a simple but happy life. He was smaller in size for he took after his mother much to his father disappointment. They always knew there was something special about young Shraker from a young age. You see he was able to learn things after only being told them once or twice. Whether it be a new skill or language. One day his mother thought to try something that she had not done in many years. Going to a hidden safe in the floor under her bed she pulled out a large book wrapped in a fine silver cloth and beckoned Shraker to come sit with her. Opening it up she started teaching him about magic and all that she knew of it. These lessons came with a warning to never let anyone ever see him casting a spell or bad things could happen to him all of them. This went on for a few years and those where the happiest years of young Shraker's life until one day someone saw him casting a spell to light a small fire while in the woods. Not knowing that he was seen he didn't know to warn his parents about it. A few weeks later while Shraker was out gather wood from deep in the forest he sees smoke bellowing up into the sky from the direction of his home. Dropping the wood Shraker ran as fast as his legs could carry him. Upon reaching the edge of the woods he could see his mother and father on there knees in front of a group of black robed figures. Shraker quickly ducked behind a tree so not be see but it was to late, someone had seen him. His mother noticed movement from the woods but tried not to let the fact show on her face but she failed. Seeing her only son duck behind a tree and hide just a split moment before the Robed man before her turned. Seeing nothing there he turned his attention back to Shraker's mother and struck her across the face with force enough to send her to the ground. Almost out of hearing range of all Shraker could hear were slight mumbles and the hand motions of the five dark robed figures but every now and then he could hear clear words when the man in the middle of the group raised his voice. He heard the words Conclave and renegade spoken then his father was kicked in the stomach and brought back to his knees and struck again while Shraker's mother was forced to watch. After not getting anywhere with the farmers one of the black robed men raised his hand having already began to glow red, seconds after that a ball of fire danced in the palm of his hand. He could be heard yelling at the pair asking where the boy was. By this Shraker knew it was him they had to be looking for but as he tried to come out of hiding he was told not to by a glance from his mother that, thankfully, the Robed men did not see. So there he stayed, crouched behind a tree at the edge of the woods as five black robed men killed his parents before his eyes. In that moment all he knew and loved was destroyed and the happy little boy that he had been withered and died inside him leaving only thoughts of vengeance in it's place. After burying his family he wonders off into the woods with a rather large book covered in a silver cloth in hand.
