The Great Library of Palanthas

An Aesthetic shows you to a small reading room.

Stories of Ansalon from the view of Tamgellin.

A little gully dwarf runs by and says 'Wordwrap is at 80. You change? Off 65 80.'
The gully continues 'Eyes hurt? Turn Color OFF!! (regular story dates)

Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a thread-bare book bound in cloth on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Tamgellin' scribed in dark yellow ink.

Subject Arriving

Looking up briefly at the blazing sun riding
high in a cloudless sky the
tall figured squinted against the glare slightly
then lowered his gaze to
take in the view ahead. It was far larger and more
impressive than he had
thought it would but of course his father had been right
when he said the
Harbour of Palanthas was enormous. Impossible to take in with
one look,
ships lay at anchor at a multitude of piers and dockworkers scurried
about,
participants in an intricate mercantile dance that brought vitality to
the
enormous population of the Lord's City.

As the ship pulled up to the dock
and was secured Tamgellin wondered what
the future held then shrugged at the
thought. Knowing the future would only
take the interest out of it he supposed
and make life very dull indeed. All
that mattered was that he was on his own for
the first time. Away from his
father, his House with its retainers, servants,
allies and enemies. For now
at least he was his own master, able to carve his
own path, succeedor fail
on his own merrits and by his own swordarm.

As the
ship bumped gently into the dock he nodded to himself and smiled
slightly. His
task was simple. Someday he would be master of his House and
his father thought
it wise for Tam to see the world before power could force
him to remain at home.
As annoying as it was to admit that his father could
be right it was a good
idea, he had to agree.

As he trod heavily down the gangplank and onto land
again Tam lifted his
head proudly and headed for the gate. As he walked under
the massive stone
arch he had the distinct feeling that a door had opened before
him and his
story from here on decided on which way he went.

With a grim smile
he went the only way he could ... forward.
