This story is of an eternal journey for
peace and solitude, one that has led
an elf of the wilds, a Kagonesti, to the
embrace of the master of all minds, Majere:

Taur was born in the forests of
Qualinost, a city of peace and strength for his
Qualinesti elven brothers, but a
living hell for his kind. For his family were
Kagonesti, slaves in the eyes of
the Qualinesti and members of the House of Servitor,
the lowest of the
hierarchical classes of Silvanesti elves. Those who escaped their
fate as
negotiable slaves were hunted as sport and Taur's family was no exception.

Although Taur's parents could count themselves lucky, having escaped the
persecution
of the higher elves for some time now, the birth of their newborn
slowed their
pace of retreat. On one fine night when the moon of Lunitari
burned a crimson red
in the horizon, the little Taur resting in a manger lost
his parents to a brutal
Qualinesti raid.

It has been said that it was at the
behest of Taur's parents that the gods found it
fit to grant Taur a second
chance at life that his parents never had. A kind elderly
Qualinesti warrior, a
part of the raiding detail that slew Taur's parents, found it
in himself to do
the unthinkable. He stole the young slave from the manger, and split
from his
group. Bringing the little one back to his home, he heralded the little one
as
his own, thus sparing the wilf elf the once-inevitable fate of slavery and
death.
Perhaps bearing the guilt for having played a part in the killing of the
young elf's
only family, he schooled the young one in the elvish arts and
imbibed in him the virtues of
pacifism and frugality. When the young elf's time
of maturity came, he told the young elf
of his past and true roots. It was then
that the elderly Qualinesti passed away, resting
in the knowledge that his past
sins were atoned for.

Now a grown elf and nearly a century old, Taur set out to
find his purpose, for he
knew he did not belong in the bustling city that
Qualinost was. He wandered for years
in the woods, finally setlling upon an
abandoned hut. There was no reason for this, he just
knew in his heart that this
was where his destiny lay. It was here that the god Majere
revealed himself to
Taur and brought him under his tutelage. He was to be a monk, an ally
to the
servants of good and bane to the creatures who would oppose those ideals. Majere

led him from the abandoned hut one day when he was ready and left him at the
grand doors
of the Holy Order of the Stars, a rare symbol of peace and
solidarity in these times of war.

The journey of Taur is only just about to
begin.
