Subject A lone figure appears from the darkness

A lone figure slowly emerged from the cold, damp cave. Crouching
at the cave
entrance he scans the horizon with his blood red eyes...trying to
find any
sign of life. Seeing none he signals over his shoulder in the
silent code of
the drow. The rest of the raiding party soon appear from the
darkness on his
flanks. Numbering eight in all they set out down the mountain
into the dark
woods below. The night is still young when they arrive on the
trail leading to
solace...

Moving as one with the night they head towards the faint glow on
the
horizon...Solace. The party leaves no trace and gives off no
sound as they
move. After a few hours of travel they raiding party reaches the
outskirts of
solace.

Peering through the darkness they watch the unsuspecting group of
elves
gathered around their campfire laughing, drinking, and telling
stories.
4....9...12...15... 15 elves in all and 4 children. The figure
licks his lips
and his gaze centers on the children as an evil grin comes across
his face.
The figure gives the signal and the Drow set upon them
ruthlessly.

sparing only the children. Their blades cutting swiftly into the
vitals of
the elves, spilling blood and entrails everywhere. The figure
slowly
approaches the quivering children with an evil grin still on his
face. "Now
mortals...you shall feel the very essence of pain."

With a wave of his hand boils and black lesions begin to form all
over the
childrens bodies..as they writhe and scream in agony the figure
lets out an
evil chuckle. "Run my children...run back to your homes..." The
children
scury away in tears back towards solace. The figure watches as
they run into
the very heart of solace... With a gesture of his wrist the rest
of the
raiding party dissapears into the night and heads back to the
cave. The figure
walks off into the night towards Tarsis.

The legends and stories soon ran rampant across the land about a
new evil..and
terrifing and relentless kind of evil.

An evil that comes in the form of an elf...yet as black as the
night
sky...eyes that are the color of blood..and heart colder than any
steel in the
land.

Subject The shadow

Weary from his travels this day, Tiroth and his loyal mercenary
companion
decided to make camp outside of Palanthas.

The night was a still one...and something was uneasy this
evening..for I could
not sleep, .

I kept seeing a vision everytime i would close my eyes...a vision
of a
creature...a creature from a nightmare A shadow...as black as the
abyss. This
creature rampaged the land killing all in her wake. This i
respect of the
creature.

I normally would not have paid any heed to such a sight...for I
am by no means
good. But i kept having a sense of danger in my head. I saw
flashes of
Grumash, a trusted ally...Arbor..kroog and others battling this
creature....

They slowly drew closer and closer to palanthas. I saw these men
fall and
being drove back one after another...this creature seemed a power
indeed.

I was now caught in a dream-like state. I stood up (still asleep,
in a dream)
and hearing the sounds of battle and the screams of the wounded I
set my eyes
upon the woodline, trying to pinpoint it. I spotted this
swirling mass of
shadows moving towards me with the others in hot pursuit. I stood
and ordered
my mercenary to attack.

In a flash of my eye my companion was down and bleeding. I
called upon
Morgion for strength as i hurled lightning bolts and used the
touch of morgion
himself to drive this creature back into the abyss from which it
came.

I held it at may for merely a few moments, but those few moments
were enough
for the others to catchup and finish the battle Grumash delivered
the killing
blow as i healed myself and then my friends that were so very
wounded.

then there was a bright flash of light and it was all over...what
was this i
asked myself...

a sight of what is to come? a symbol of the armies of Takhisis
sweeping across
the land? a sign that the Shadows would fall?
