One of the most important aspects of leveling is making sure that you switch to your "leveling equipment" right before you make that last kill to get enough experience to level. Leveling equipment consists of equipment which will max out your stats, thus allowing you to gain the maximum amount of hit points, mana, practices, etc every level. Most people set up aliases or macros in their mud clients allowing them to easily switch between their combat equipment and leveling equipment.

On Ansalon, various attributes affect the results you get when achieving a new level. Intelligence affects how much mana you gain, Wisdom affects how many practices you receive, dexterity affects how many movement points you get, and Constitution affects how many hit points you get. Because of this, having all of your attributes at maximum is very important. The equipment you receive from the Mudschool should maximize all your attributes, but it is important to make sure as you continue on and improve your equipment that having your attributes maximized is crucial.
