Subject What's this? An automatic freebie?
You might have noticed that as you logged in, you got a little freebie
given to you. This little bit of code allows higher imms to auto-give
freebies to everyone who logs in... only once.
Of what use is this?
Well, let's say we're passing out a celebratory cigar. If you're not on
when the imm is passing it out, you don't get one, right? Well, now, as
long as that cigar is on the automatic imm gift list, you'll get it the
first time you log in after it's been put on the list! (OK, that probably
was a bit confusing, but you get the picture.)
And don't even think about trying to abuse this: You'll only get the item
once, even if you get rid of the old one. (Well, you could get it again,
but only if an imm WANTED to give it out again.)
OK, probably not the best explanation. If you have questions, ask an imm.

Subject Note editing
You can now edit notes you are writing with the desc_editor
To do so, simply type 'note edit' or 'note modify' (or war edit, story edit
.r will replace a word,
.r "this is cool" "this is really cool" will replace the string of words.
.f will format the text
.c will clear the text
@ returns you to normal
You can still use note - note + etc if you wish, this just lets
those who wish, have more control over their note writing.

Subject gain points
Lowering your creation points (cp) by using 'gain points' at a gainer, now
costs only 1 point (1 gain, or 1 train if you have no gain points), rather

Subject mounts and funky moves
Fixed pets, they used to let you order all sit/rest/sleep while mounted,
then go move around and use up THIER moves. Now... They buck you off and
stand there if you're mounted and order them to sit/rest/sleep, also, if you
try to mount one that's not standing, it barks at you as well.

Subject New sub-channel
You may now speak only to those people in your clan, in the same subclan, with
the new channel 'subclantalk'. To use, type 'subclantalk' (or sub etc) then
the message, only the people in your clan, in your subclan will hear it.

Subject SAIL HO!
Mariner is coming folks.
What I need is this:
Each Ship costs 4000 diamonds.
A list of players for EACH ship.
There must be a minimum of 6 PLAYERS for each ship
for every PLAYER under 10, the ship costs an additional 1000 diamonds
for the NPC crewman.
A proposed SHIP NAME (these must be imp approved)
A proposed SHIP ROLE PLAY
This includes any requisite races, classes etc. And the general ship RP.
A proposed SHIP berth (location)
Each ship will be a subclan of Mariner (handy subclan channels)
Each ship will be autonomous (diamonds, recall spots, equipment etc)
One main location will have the clan required healer/safe room
Additionals can be purchased (see help prices).
So you have 8 players, and want a ship called the Vanderkaum, to be berthed
in Palanthas. Role play is a merchant ship. Any race, any class. Your cost:
4000 diamonds, 2000 diamonds for the missing 2 crewmen. Total cost: 6000
Once approved you get: 1-10 room ship/dock built off the docks of
Palanthas, 2 NPC crewmen to help run the ship. Normal clan prices apply
when expanding the ship or the dock. (the dock may include warehouses etc)
This ship can have longboats as a means of returning to the dock, or
gangplank etc. You may also expand the ship by building (see normal costs
in help roomprice).
The main Mariner safe room will be a side room off the Rusty Rudder in
Palanthas. This room will be outfitted with a healer, safe, and Mariner
only, with a pit. Additional pits cost only as 1 item (container) at 100
diamonds, and may be placed anywhere on the ship or dock.
Additional healers etc, see help prices.
Please note immortal with your proposed crew and ships.

Subject Free whotexts (race names)
Whotext command in, this was written to allow you to change your race
yourself, this does NOT let you becomes fantastic funky freaks... it simple
allows you to be called a High Elf, or Gully Dwarf etc. Type 'whotext' for
more information. Type 'Help Whotext' for a complete list of what your race
can have for the free race strings, as well as some pre-approved ones you can
purchase the normal way with a quest note.

Non-existant races are allowed as whotexts, but COST the normal fee.

I type whotext gully (or whotext gully dwarf etc).
I now show up as a gully dwarf for my 'race'.

Subject Some nice little tweaks
'exits' now is a little nicer, notice closed exits and dark rooms (as well
as the room being shown from where you are). Newbies now will start with
autoexit, autogold, autoloot, to assist those who aren't familiar with

Subject A few modifications
Ok, abandoned pets now revert to wild animals, that is to say they lose
their pet flag and become regular mobiles. So they may be charmed or
killed with impunity.
Resting characters will now see how much hp/mana/move they have
regenerated each tick, if they had any to gain back (just rest and see).
These are only visable if resting or sleeping and not AFK.
Resting/sleeping characters will also see 'You feel rested.' etc.
Ok, well that's it, it sounded a whole lot cooler earlier ;p.

Subject Moving etc
Some movement now reflects your terrain, I was sick of the trout/carp
walking north. You'll notice they swim now, as well as people with boats

Subject Clan hall changed for KoT
Thanks to our wonderful Takhisis, Storm Keep (AKA KoT clan hall) has
been updated to what it's supposed to be. And it's been moved in the map,
too, so you'll have to find it again.
Special thanks goes to Chemosh, Gilean, Mishakal, Nuitari, and Zivilyn for
assisting Takhisis in this new clan hall. (All Reo did was move it over.)
(For those non-KoT people, it had to be changed to make it more in line
with the rules...the original builder did things a bit illegally. Add to
that the problematic jail program, rooms that weren't connected, and other
mistakes, we thought it best to fix it all together in one move.)
Once again, a special thanks to Takhisis for fixing the KoT clan hall and
now he can move on to bigger and better things!

Subject School stuff
You'll notice that the school equipment is no longer such an eyesore to
look at. The equipment is also more in tune with our current damage and
armor classes, and most of it will no longer poof when dropped. There might
be a couple of new pieces floating around as well, as well as some more
dwarves and minotaurs in the arena.

Quests now take into account how much time you've played, along with your
exp/level, and your level. This is to stop the level 2 munchkin's out there
with 200 hours and 3 million qp, it shouldn't affect hardly any players, but
we felt you should know.

Subject A little change
I have removed the "object count" limit for people. Now, you are no longer
limited on how much you can carry based on number of items, but based purely
on the weight of said items.
This will greatly help lowbies who before could hit their item count limit
way before hitting their item weight limit.
And if I get some time this week, I'll be putting in some other stuff that
I've gotten working.

Subject Tails claws and things
After listening to our thoughtful players...
Tails/claws/fangs/tusks/horns will now ROT after a short time, similar time
to how long it takes for a players corpse to rot. That is unless...
Someone picks them up. In which case we assume you want them, and they then
will not rot. Oh, and they're now worth a small sum of money for those of
you who'd like to sell them to the appropriate shops.

Subject A little money and object interaction
Ok, a few things were addressed, nothing major. Steal will now always give
_some_ experience, but you'll notice that a sanity clause was installed as far
as exp and money taken (your hands are only SO big).
Deactivate has been fixed as well, there is always at least a 1% chance of
success (before there were some you'd NEVER deactivate, now it's possible at
least 1 in 100). There is also some experience awarded for using the skill
Other than that, some color issues with giving/getting money.

Continual light (as per Paolo's idea), will now increase the time left on
lights that normally would diminush (read, non-permanent lights). The time
they increase is based off of the castor level.

Subject OLC money et all
On both ports, OLC now shows gold and STEEL for money objects in oedit. (It
worked before but you couldn't see the steel part, and it said 'silver set'
etc) Also changed the 'steel' piles out there to steel, and gold to gold etc.

Subject Creation etc
You'll now find that in creation when you are customizing, you can
actually see which skills/spells you get at what level. Once you've 'add
crossbow' (or add beguiling etc)... Then simply type 'learned' as usual,
but now it shows you what level each skill or spell is that you have chosen.

You now pick your name, then race, THEN get it approved. This helps for
the immortals to know if the name 'Gublaug' would really be a stupid name,
if it's a goblin it would fit.

I couldn't agree more with the auto-split shields we have out there.
Shields now take damage from blows, when the total damage adds up to more
than they can withstand... They break. You can still repair them at your
local repairman if needed.

Subject OLC resets
I've added in a stupidity clause to OLC resets, they now can only be put
in if the mob/object is within the vnum range of the area you are working
on. I'll be adding another change similar to this one, so that it checks to
make sure there IS a mob or previous container when doing INSIDE or NONE
with an object reset. Seems that there were some big holes in Ivan's OLC,
I'm working on them.

Subject attaching mprogs/olc resets part 2
I've gone and made sure mprogs have the same failsafe, no more attaching
mprogs from other areas to mobiles not of that area. This stops crashes,
crash bad ;p.
OLC resets now also give a bit more information if people try to put in a bad one.

Subject OLC part 3
OLC is getting better, it now lets you know which mob you are creating,
which room etc, and when you leave it lets you know which one you are
exiting. Many little changes throughout, safety catches (the
redit/oedit/medit delete crash bug squished etc). Have a hoot.
