The Great Library of Palanthas

An Aesthetic shows you to a small reading room.

Stories of Ansalon from the view of Kilanthas.

A little gully dwarf runs by and says 'Wordwrap is at 65. You change? Off 65 80.'
The gully continues 'Eyes hurt? Turn Color OFF!! (regular story dates)

Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a miniscule pocket book on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Kilanthas' scribed in faded black ink.

Author: Kilanthas

Subject Something strange in your
neighborhood...

As you walk through the streets of
Palanthas, you can't help but notice
that things haven't felt
quite right around the city lately. All over town
strange and
unexplained things have been happening. Brushing off
these
notions as mere paranoia, you reach your destination at the
nearest tavern.

No sooner have you received your ale, than do
you hear two elderly men
conversing near the back of the bar.

"I hear there's a man about town accepting any kinda work
offered to him"

"So what? Lot's of guys will do whatever
crappy jobs come to them for a few
coins"

"No, when I say
anything, I mean ANYthing murders, robbery dark deeds of
any
sort, work even mercenaries won't take"

This conversation
is unsettling as it reminds you of your previous thoughts.
You
get up to move to a further table and as you do so you hear a
faint
laugh over your shoulder. Whirling around you see no one,
but when you turn
back to grab your mug, you find that your coin
purse has been stolen. In
front of you on the table a very
distinct "R" has been carved into the
table.

Maybe those
rumors have some merit after all.

Subject Things that go bump in the night....

The next morning the streets of palanthas seem to hum with
conversation.

"Did you hear? "

"I saw it myself, or I
wouldn't have believed it"

"All that blood... "

"They
cut up his little girl like that? How awful! "

Your
curiosoity gets the better of you and you finally ask a
fruit-seller
what the news was, trying not to gag at the woman's
breath.

"'ee didn't know? The 'igh Guard's Daugh'er? Ya
know? Watch found 'er
today, throat cut like a pig she was, and
none to say who done it. Found
'er with a great big blue R
Painted on her chest. "

Horrified, you go about your
business reflecting that perhaps moving to the
countryside would
suit you better.
