Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'

Subject Mabius' Background

Mabius
Elvere was born near Kalaman, and had a fairly normal
childhood.
He was loved by his family, but had few friends. His
time was mostly spent
reading and performing experiments and
autopsies on insects and small
animals. Anything he could do to
attain more knowledge. His father always
told him from as young
as he could remember, "knowledge is power." And
Mabius took this
to heart. At around the age of ten, he saw a magic-user for
the
first time. She was a mysterious and beautiful woman. Her eyes
were
enchanting and sparkled with a light he hadn't seen before,
in anyone. He
talked with her and learned of the magic.

He
swiftly discovered, with her help, that he was a natural in the
art. And
from that day forth, he saught all knowledge of the
arcane he could find.
Eventually he found a mentor, and learned
much in his tutelage. A while
later, at a fairly young age, he
tested and took the red robes. He grew in
strength and knowledge
until one day he began to lose his mind. In his test,
he fought
within himself to act as he would. However, his friends meant
a
lot to him, as well as his white robe master. In the end he
acted to please
them as best he could, while maintaining a bit of
his own personality. If he
would have acted without outside
influence, he would have come out a black
robe, as his quest for
power and knowledge in the magic would have him
forsake
everything, even the lives of loved ones.

However, this choice
drove him insane in the end. He suicidally attacked one
of his
former students, and died in the process. Almost a year later,
he
returned to Krynn, with no knowledge of what happened. Only
that he had lost
all knowledge and understanding of spells and
skills he once had. Though
now, he could see the black moon in
the sky. He vowed to rejoin the conclave
and be true to himself.
He wandered in to Neraka, a town he had never trav
elled to
before, and took up residence. Once again beginning his quest
to
gain as much knowledge as he could.
