The Great Library of Palanthas

An Aesthetic shows you to a small reading room.

Stories of Ansalon from the view of Phydius.

A little gully dwarf runs by and says 'Wordwrap is at 65. You change? Off 65 80.'
The gully continues 'Eyes hurt? Turn Color OFF!! (regular story dates)

Astinus says 'Enter the main library here to view only the author list.'
Astinus gently places a journal on the table in front of you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Phydius' scribed in burnt brown ink.

Author: Phydius
Date Thu Dec 8 21:08:45 2005
Subject Phyd's Journal, Day One

Thought I should pick up a quill, some ink and paper and start a
journal
to keep track of things so I can tell them to others later. I
see lots of
interesting stuff worthy of tales. And tomorrow is looking to be
a whopper
of a tale in the making.

Heh, this first journal entry could be my last as well. Just to
let you
know, I am at this moment sitting atop the battlements of Kalaman
looking
out at the deep dark night and the vast hoste of campfires
twinkling in the
darkness.

The Solamnic Knights are standing tall, proud and ready for the
impending
battle. They have trained all their lives for this moment and
they seem
confident and defiant, impressive really given the odds.

Hard to say but the forces of the Dark Lady have been arriving
for quite a
long time. I've been penned up in this city for far too long
already
because of them. Pretty inconsiderate of them really to hog up
all the
roads.

In short, though it is difficult to ascertain with any degree of
accuracy it
is painfully obvious that the defenders here are vastly
outnumbered, to say
the least. I'm not certain but I think I even saw a dragon
gliding along
very high up.

By this time tomorrow things will be different. The dead might
outnumber
the living, and depending on what sort of dark clerics She has
sent maybe
the undead will outnumber everyone.

Not a pleasant thought but it does beg the question, what would
the undead
do with a city once they had it ? They don't eat or sleep, so
they don't
need inns. Hmm. I'll have to think about that more sometime.

I hope these Knights are up to the task. It will be a dark day
tomorrow.
I've become friends with a good many of them. I know I'll get
through it, I
always do somehow, but I'll mourn their loss.

I'll sign off here. Hope to write another entry soon. If not,
well, then
maybe I didn't make it and I'm walking the Last Road Home.
